The file formats we accept for large format digital printing We also use the the latest CC Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop.

We prefer a PDF work flow, where you supply a pdf, we open the file, do colour correction to match the sublimation process, then we save as an .eps file. This file is opened in the RIP software (Raster Image Processor) in the dedicated computer connected to the printer. Here we set the media profile, plus other setting relative to the finished job, then the job is printed. We use Ergosoft RIPs which are considered by many as the best for sublimation printing, giving greater control over ink volumes going onto the transfer paper or onto porous direct to fabrics (Fabrics that ink is printed directly onto the fabric.)

We print on the PC platform with CMYK colour source, with untagged profiles. We produce all our own profiles in house for all the media we print.

Ready to print  VECTOR  files:

Pdf files need to be prepared so that all fonts have been converted to outlines, and image files saved at the highest quality with images embedded. Our preference is pdf’s produced from Illustrator so they remain editable, for colour matching.

We do take Indesign files they must be exported and saved as pdfs, all fonts must converted to outlines and images embedded.

WARNING:

Be aware that tints, transparent colours and alpha channels can yield unexpected results. With tints and transparent colours we have to replace these with a 100% pms colour that is similar to the tint to get the desired resultant colour. Keep that in mind as there will be an extra charge with any file containing tints and transparent colours that we have to match.

Ready to print  BITMAP  image files:

Close viewed high quality output at 1 metre or so; images must be 300ppi at 50% of the finished size.

Tradeshow type banners; a minimum of 300 ppi at 25% of the final printed image size.

Extra large banners which are viewed at billboard distances; 300ppi at 10% is acceptable.

Files are preferably tif, psd or high quality jpegs. Our RIPs can handle very large files, and we don’t resample your images to low resolution to facilitate faster image handling, ripping and printing.

Photoshop psd files are best supplied with all layers intact so any colour management issues can be addressed easily layer by layer.

In Illustrator and InDesign all text MUST be converted to outlines / paths.

Pdf files need to be prepared so that all fonts have been converted to outlines, and image files saved at the highest quality. Our preference is pdf’s produced from Illustrator so they remain editable, for colour matching.

We also prefer a printed hard copy of your artwork or a pdf file. we can supply a small proof print if required, for a small of charge.

Colour Matching:

The nature of digital printing makes perfect colour matching difficult on some colours, but we pride ourselves in our ability to match most colours very closely. If you have a special colour requirement

we require pms colours and a previous print job to match them accurately.

We produce some the highest quality large and grand format sublimation print work in the country, and will be reluctant to print substandard artwork and will advise you as such.
